Did You Know?

There’s a lot of misinformation out there about what is a pyramid scheme or not and it all depends on if there is actual product that gets exchanged for payment or not. Something is illegal if there’s money exchanged just for headcount with NO REAL product or service.

The Main Problem That We All Face

Do you know someone that thinks that all essential oil companies that don’t sell in the grocery store are a pyramid scheme? Would you like to learn about the truth when it comes to essential oils, mlms, and network marketing? Make sure to watch the video below to learn more!

Top 3 Mistakes That Skeptics Make About An Essential Oils Pyramid Scheme

1.) Skeptics think that an essential oil company that has a MLM or network marketing based business model is automatically a pyramid scheme and therefore ILLEGAL!

First of all, The terms MLM, Multi Level Marketing, and Network Marketing all mean the same thing.

Second of all, according to Debra A. Valentine, Former General Counsel of the FTC, “MLM’s actually sell their product to members of the general public, without requiring these consumers to pay anything extra or to join the MLM system. MLM’s may pay commissions to a long string of distributors, but these commission are paid for real retail sales, not for new recruits.”

2.) Skeptics don’t understand that there are 3 different types of MLMs or network marketing companies:

First is Illegal MLMs which exchange headcount or recruiting for payment and don’t have a real product to sell. New recruits pay for the old recruits commissions. This is Illegal and something I would never be involved with!

Second is Traditional Network Marketing companies (or the majority) which focus on recruiting and selling a real product and lead with the business opportunity. This is bass ackwords if you know what I mean… and something I would also never be involved with either!

And finally Authentic Network Marketing companies (or the small minority) like the company I am involved with focuses on teaching and sharing and leading with product education.

3.) 99% (or what seems like the vast vast majority) of skeptics are not aware of their own presuppositions, cognitive dissonance, and confirmation bias. I wasn’t even aware of these until I started studying these and know am more honest about my positions and bias (since everyone has a bias!)

Presuppositions is when you assume something beforehand or take something for granted in advance. In other words, you are “right” and anything that I say that goes against that is “wrong.” More self awareness is need here.

Cognitive dissonance is when you feel uncomfortable after holding two opposing beliefs in your head at the same time. In other words, “All MLMs are pyramid schemes, but Lance said that some are illegal, most are traditional, and some are authentic.”

Finally, confirmation bias is when you unconsciously reference people, organizations, or studies that only support your own point of view. This is called being subjective and therefore unknowingly bias.
