This question comes in from Michelle and she asks, “How much essential oil should I use?” Watch the video below to learn more.
Did You Know?
Essential oils are the immune system of the plant and the potency and quality of them will determine the type of experience you’ll have.
The Main Problem That We All Face
Have you ever overused essential oils or burned yourself with them? I know I have. Using the proper amount and diluting with a carrier oil are some keys to making sure you have a more positive experience.
How Much Essential Oil Should I Use?
1.) Remember that less is more: Essential oils are 50-70 times more powerful than herbs and 1 drop of peppermint essential oil is equal to 28 cups of peppermint tea.
2.) Using less, more often can be very effective: If I get a scratchy throat or the hint of a tickle in the back of my throat, I will use some oils every 15-30 minutes since threats multiplies exponentially.
3.) Ongoing issues are handled differently: Ongoing health concerns that have lasted more than a year or two should be handled by using essential oils in the morning and night.
4.) Using 1-2 drops of essential oil are all you will ever need more almost all applications. Make sure to use a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil when applying topically if you have sensitive or young skin (and especially with hotter oils).
In Summary
Less is more when it comes to answering the question of “how much essential oil should I use?” Using 1-2 drops every 15-30 minutes for acute or random health concerns can be very effective at boosting your immune system.
Otherwise, using 1-2 drops in the morning and night for ongoing issues works well too.
